There are two main ways of living life -
You can either chase or you can allow.
A life spent chasing often feels hard, full of obstacles and never-ending. It is deceptive as chasing goals fills one with a sense of purpose and achievement. But most of those goals and dreams come from deep unfulfilled desires and karmic residues (prarabdha karma), thus becoming hard lessons meant to free us from attachment. One can either choose to work directly with those energies of lack and want by focusing our attention on them and consciously releasing them, or we can let ourselves be carried by those energies till they are released from our system through experiences. By chasing, we are also adding to our desires and karma, resolutely tying us in a loop of chasing to release old desires and karma, and simultaneously chasing as a result of new formed desires and karma (agami karma).
A life spent allowing on the other hand, feels effortless, it feels empowering as you realize that you are a medium for the universe and your soul to act through you. You are in receiving mode, receiving inspiration and guidance from the universe, rather than in chasing mode. It is liberating and manifests through creativity, a sense of oneness and inner peace. In the allowing mode, with an open heart, a clear mind, and a strong will, you are in a state of equanimity, neither affected by highs nor lows. You just are. Because you are fully aware that are just a medium for the energies of the universe to flow and manifest through you. Actions are not born out of your desire but rather out of service.
Are you in the allowing mode or the chasing mode?
There is nothing wrong with being in either of the two modes because we all have our own journeys and work on our own unique timelines. But ultimately, the goal is to surrender and allow. So why not surrender to it sooner than later?
