Hello, happy weekend !
Today’s post may not resonate with everyone. Today, I’m allowing my mystical side to take over and if the topic of communicating with your guides and angels is not what you’re here for, then please feel free to skip this post.
For the others, let’s get straight into it!
Who are the guides and angels?
Have you ever found yourself in a desperate situation, perhaps, feeling mental agony and emotional anguish, and then you call out for help—not to anyone in particular but just to the universe in general—and then, help arrives? Sometimes that help may feel like a massive turn of events, and at other times, it feels like a weight has been lifted off your back.
That’s our prayers being answered by our guides and angels.
There is a whole bunch of them working in the background, not like Dobby the house elf from Harry Potter, but more like the fairy Godmother from Cinderella. They are constantly looking after us, protecting us, invigorating us with energy and strength and clarity, gently nudging us in a direction if we are stuck or lost, and always, always rooting for us.
They are a gentle energy, and their purpose is to help us on our soul path.
They are energetically vibrating from a place of love and nurture. Lorna Byrne describes them best in her book, Angels in My Hair. If this topic interests you, I would highly recommend reading her book(s) and forming your own unique understanding of the omnipresent angels and guides.
What guides and angels are not.
I think it’s also important to understand that the guiding force will never interfere in our lives. While they are present to assist us, they will not do the work for you.
Think of them as guideposts. When we feel like we are constantly trudging uphill, or swimming against the current, it is because either, we have to go through some difficult obstacles to reach our goal, or we are completely on the wrong track.
In such situations, when we stop and ask for help, the guiding force gives us that energy and strength to keep going, (think of Google maps showing a long patch of red ahead, and then we brace ourselves for an annoyingly slow ride) or through events, they will make it clear for us that we are on the wrong track and we need to re-route (in this case, Google maps shows us an alternative route.)
But they will seldom pick you up and put you on the track that is in your highest good. That work is for us.
Why?
Because the soul path is the path that helps you elevate your consciousness. This means that till you don’t come to the realization that your path is trying to teach you, yourself, your consciousness will continue to stay in the same place. This means that we have to do the work—we have to keep going to find and actively commit to the path of least resistance, the key word being active. That is when our consciousness rises.
So, how do we build communication with our guides?
I’ve mentioned before that depending on our level of awareness, or how tuned-in we are with the fifth element, i.e. ether, our communication with the guiding force differs. So some like Lorna Byrne can actually see and talk to their guides, while some others are filled with a sense of inner knowing, which again is a sign of their guidance, and still, some others may see repeating numbers and patterns like 111, 1212, etc.
The point is that you can actually pick your sign! You can say something like, “Please show me a hummingbird, or a multi-colored feather if this is the house that I should buy.”
You can have fun with this, but before that remember 2 main things:
1. The guides are here to assist you. It is up to you to open yourself to their help.
Speak to them in your mind. Greet them in the morning. Loop them into what you’re feeling and thinking. Journal, as though you’re writing them a letter. Check with them if you’re on your soul path, or whether you need to make slight tweaks.
This may fill you with a sense that you probably don’t have much choice but to follow your soul path. But that’s not true. We all have free will. But over time, you will realize that you can either follow experiences driven by your fears and gross desires or you could find it in yourself to surrender to your path.
The key is to reach a level of awareness where you realize that you could very well spend this life experiencing experiences that you desire, or that you think you should live, or you allow yourself to become the medium of the energy that is meant to flow through you with least resistance. That is your soul path.
When the Sufi dervish Shams of Tabriz met Rumi for the first time, Rumi was a well-learned scholar, a Mawlana. But shams of Tabriz knew that Rumi had a higher purpose to fulfill which included writing poetry that came from his soul, and that people the world over would read for inspiration and guidance many centuries later.
So that’s what the soul path is like—it is never about personal gratification, but it is to fulfill a higher purpose, and the guides are there to help you along that journey.
2. Finally, the key ingredient is gratitude.
The guiding force speaks the language of love. To be able to communicate with them and get their assistance, we too need to vibrate at a higher frequency and that comes with gratitude.
The more I walk on this path, the more I realize that it is all about surrender and service. Those are not easy traits to cultivate as humans, so any help we can get on this path is a reason to be grateful for.
Love and light,
Vishanka
